ok my sisters husband gave me a surfboard and its 6′1 and im barely 5 feet would it be possible for me to learn how to surf on a short board? my friend did it and she does surf competition, just need more info thanks

I would recommend a soft top long board for a beginner. They are very buoyant so it is easy to get up, and the top is “cushion” so it won’t hurt if you fall/slip on it. Once you get better, try a shortboard which is good for doing tricks and turns, although they are more difficult to stand up on if you are new to the sport. Another board, a fish is a sort of hybrid between a longboard and shortboard. Fun for small days when the waves aren’t too powerful.

I already know how to snowboard. But maybe that does’nt make a difference.

Just learned how to surf. I have only used a 9′ board. Looking for suggestions on how small of a board a person of my hieght and wieght can stoop down to.

even though i have not had much experience out there. the board is about the same height as me…. should i even try?
