For A Laptop Do I Need An Ethernet Cord Or A Wireless Laptop Card If I Want The Internet Everywhere?

I want to be able to use my Apple MacBook Pro Laptop wherever I go, whether I’m in the backseat of someone’s car surfing the web, at the park, school, traveling, etc., without any problems. I wanted to know If I have to get an Ethernet cord or a wireless card to connect to the internet?

    You need a wireless card, but it will only work if it can pick up on a hotspot. An Ethernet cord is good to have too, as not all hotels are wireless, but do have the port to work with an ethernet.

    The closest you’re going to get to getting internet anywhere is to get EVDO or a 3G modem and service from a cellular provider. With a MacBook Pro you already have built in wireless (Airport) and an Ethernet port (Right hand side next to the DVI connector). But none of these will help you get internet unless there’s either an ethernet connection or WiFi access point nearby. EVDO or 3G will at least allow you access anywhere in the 3G or EVDO cellular network.

    You will need to get a special card from a service provider such as sprint or ATT, I believe the service is about $70 a month, and comes with a free internet access card.
    You can also buy a router or wireless access point and be able to access the internet from about 500 feet away maximum. The macbook pro already has an internal adapter to connect to this type of internet.

    an ethernet cord wouldn’t help u much, it can only connect directly to modems/routers. if the place ur trying to get internet has a router then u will be able to use there’s most of the time. if u really want it EVERYWHERE though a wireless card would be what u want. hope it helps

    the wireless laptop card. cuz u can bring them anywhere without even have to plug in anything at all!!!!!!!!!!!=)
