Where Was Your Best Scuba Dive?

I have dived all over the world but am always in search of new beautiful places to SCUBA. Where was your favorite SCUBA dive?
Warm waters preferred.
For others that are interested, my favorites were the Great Barrier Reef, Molokini Crater, and Walt Disney’s Living Seas.

hysterical? really? i don’t recommend doing anything in the ocean if you’re hysterical. in fact the most important thing in the ocean is to remain calm and alert. perhaps you could start tackling your fear by taking swimming classes in a pool and working on becoming very physically competent in the water, which would give you a solid base of confidence with which to begin approaching the ocean. maybe you could take your child with you to swim class as well. mommy and me perhaps?
please don’t follow the other posters advice on practicing in a tide pool or other kind of standing water near the beach. such “ponds” as she calls them often seem safe to moms and children but they are well known to be rife with bacteria, ecoli, and other nasty bits, so the ocean though perhaps daunting is much safer for you and your child any day. just stay in the shallows.

if you wanna learn to kite surf, try doing it over a pond. by pond i mean the salwater ones that connect to breach water, because they are usually calm, shallow, and perfect for learning to to kitesurf, that is where i first leanred to windsurf

jump off a bridge to get over this fear quickly. It’s called “flooding” in the Psychological world.

I cant’ choose 1, so I’ll pick the best 3. Turneffe Islands, Belize, unreal. Roatan, Honduras, beautiful wall dives, and my favorite of all was East Timor, the most untouched reefs in the world, absolutely stunning.

I have been diving in the same places you have listed.
The most incrediable dive I had is in DOS OJOS – a cavern in Mexico (Yucatan, south of Cancun). Even with the IMAX movie, those caverns are still pretty unknown and not very touristic.
The water is so clear, that you cannot see it anymore. It appears you are flying in space. The normal scuba licence is good enough to go there. The place is very easy to reach from Cancun or Playa del Carmen. Have a look on the webpage.
Have fun.

Grand Cayman-Cayman Islands. A dream !

Nothing on earth beats the Cayman Islands. Parts of Mexico can be great. Hawaii ( and Maui specifally ) probably has the most diverse fish population, but the water is typically not as clear as parts of the Caribean. If you have not go to the Caymans to dive, put it on your list.

I’ve dove many places including the beautiful Caribbean. Every time I go back it’s still the same; absolutely beautiful! However, I started needing more “meat” to my dives and began diving in Morehead City NC. This area is knows as the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” as there are many many shipwrecks. My dive on the Caribsea had so much history and background but the highlight of the dive was the many BIG critters on it. There were huge sharks all around me. Not once did I feel threatened but enjoyed the privilege of being down with these perfect creatures. So my answer…. Caribsea – Morehead City, NC.

Bonaire’s pristine reefs and diverse marine life are unique to the Caribbean. Because the waters around Bonaire have been protected by an actively managed marine park for the past 25 years, Bonaire today ranks amongst the top four best diving destinations in the world*.
I have been there and seen people come from far to get the best herehttp://www.infobonaire.com/scubadiving.h…

The red sea was fantastic, and also the great barrier reef. Both were absolutely amazing!

El Bells to Blu hole, Dahab.
A 30 metre chimney straight down followed by a beautiful wall dive. Finish off with a swim across the Blue Hole….amazing.
